Frank's Gastric Bypass

Frank’s Gastric Bypass

The Challenge

After 47 long years, I can finally say that I have achieved my lifelong dream of being comfortable within my own skin. Unfortunately this wasn’t always the case, as my weight was a hurdle I constantly strained to overcome. Struggling with my weight from an early age right up until my mid 40’s, I attempted many diets, programs and guides. You name it, I tried it.
Yes these diets ‘worked’, but I use that term very lightly as within a series of weeks and months I found myself back in the same position; obese and struggling to motivate myself to try something else. My weight also contributed to a lot of mental and psychological struggles over the years where my outlook on life became very bleak, and I found myself living a lifestyle I hated. I was constantly depressed, embarrassed to be seen in public and felt extremely useless.

The Journey

My life changed the day my wife came home from the doctors clinic with a pamphlet which detailed 2 procedures known as Gastric Sleeve and Gastric Bypass. At first, I felt quite embarrassed about discussing these options with my family doctor, as I thought he would refer to the surgery as being pointless. It took me 6 long months to finally muster up the courage to finally see him. Once I opened up to him about these options, he was very supportive about my choice.

After tests and discussions, we finally decided that the most suitable procedure for me would be the Gastric Bypass and I’ve never looked back. Before the procedure I weighed approximately 116 kilos and 14 months later, I now weigh 70kg. I am very thankful for the support and care.

I live my life the way I wanted to… full of confidence, good health and joy. Through this experience, I can honestly say that I not only gained a new me but new friends along the way.

Unfortunately this wasn’t always the case, as my weight was a hurdle I constantly strained to overcome. Struggling with my weight from an early age right up until my mid 40’s, I attempted many diets, programs and guides: e.g. Light and Easy, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers. You name it, I tried it.

At first, I felt quite embarrassed about discussing these options with my family doctor, as I thought he would refer to the surgery as being pointless. It took me 6 long months to finally muster up the courage to finally see him. Once I opened up to him about these two options, he immediately referred me onto the Darebin Weight Loss Clinic, saying that it was the best clinic to visit for these type of procedures. Without hesitation I booked my first appointment with the clinic, hopeful that they would be able to help me out of the hole I found myself in. After tests and discussions we finally decided that the best procedure for me would be the Gastric Bypass and I’ve never looked back.

Before the procedure I weighed approximately 116 kilos and 14 months later, I now weigh 70kg. I only have two words for the Darebin Weight Loss clinic. Thank You! They gave me the opportunity to start living my life the way I wanted to, full of confidence, good health and joy. Through this experience, I can honestly say that I not only gained a new me but also a new family in the Darebin Weight Loss Clinic.

Many Thanks

Frank
